I’ve never been one to beg for money. But here I am, BEGGING. If anyone has a spare £3,925,000 on their hands, there’s a house with my name on it and I won’t take no for an answer. Okay, so perhaps I’m over-exaggerating a little, but this week’s major interior inspiration comes from a newly-designed apartment in a Grade II-LISTED building and boy oh boy is it my idea of divine.

Situated in west London’s White City district and designed by Piercy&Company Architects, the apartment is one of five penthouses created as part of the Television Centre’s Architect’s Series. In this instance, fashion designer Bella Freud and Retrouvius co-founder Maria Speake have turned the pad, aptly names Helios 710, into an oozing ode to seventies.

Reigniting the glamour of its former BBC TV Centre roots, the mid-century pad is a flurry of bold colours and textures screaming from a more neutral backdrop of hessian walls, wooden accents and cork features. An emerald green carpet brings a sense of botanical bohemia and allows the contrasting rust soft furnishings to pop against the glossy black furniture. If I had more space in the EJP abode (and a heavier stream of disposable income), this is the look I would go for.

My personal favourite feature has to be the cork walls within the snug setting, again referencing the media heritage of the building (where cork was likely used for sound-proofing) and providing the perfect backdrop to the velvet sofa, sheepskin rug and leopard print cushions. As a result, I plan to recreate this look in my own office next year, but to instead have it as a mood-board for my own inspirations. Endless wall-pinning, yes please.

The bedrooms act as a platform for Freud to present her own interior wares with snuggly blankets, cushions and candles all setting ‘the Bella lifestyle’ and the pop of deep cherry red adds another layer of colour to the apartment. The leopard-print bath mat adorned with Freud’s signature dog in the simplistic bathroom really is the final touch. Fit for a modern-day Brigitte Bardot, or me, don’t you think?

Helios 710 is one of five designs by architects Piercy&Company for the most premium apartments in the Television Centre’s scheme, The Architects’ Series, which are now available for viewings.
