Dreaming of the Californian sun at the moment? Well fear not, it’s easy enough to transport yourself to the sunshine state with a selection of carefully chosen decor. This week I’m rounding up my favourite cushions of the seasons, taking you straight to desert destinations and golden hour vibes. Here’s 10 Californian cushions to cuddle up with.

sunset hued round California cushion

Sage & Clare – Inyo Round Punch Needle Cushion | Peachy Parrot | £66

Head straight to the Californian desert with this round punch needle cushion from Peachy Parrot (first seen on Lisa Dawson’s outdoor garden feature!). The sunset-hued design features jagged mountains, a dominant sun and an expansive sky. Who knew landscapes in a cushion could be so appealing?

ochre cushion with Californian motif

Malibu Tan Embroidered Cushion* | Habitat | £55

Get the Malibu look with this gorgeous tan fringed cushion from Habitat. The on-trend ochre is perfect for adding a brighter pop of colour to your sofa or bed, while the abstract palm tree detailing brings a little bit of the outside in.

money tree round cushion with bamboo and fringing

Circle Linen Money Tree Cushion | Poodle & Blonde | £105

Bring a little bit of retro L.A to your abode with this linen money tree cushion from my girls over at Poodle & Blonde. The original pattern is inspired by the tale of a Grandfather who would trick his grandchildren into believing that money really did grow on trees! I mean, I guess it does? Team the tones of light blue, gold and reddish browns with rust and orange for ultimate vintage appeal.

pink and brown retro cushion

Margot Cushion | Tulibee | £40

The sixties called, and it wants to give you a present. The super colourful Margot cushion by independent designer Tulibee features the perfect mix of pink, white and tan. The retro flower pattern, reminiscent of those found in your grandma’s home, has been given a modern update making it the perfect addition to your home today.

multi-coloured lips cushion

Lips Cushion by Paris Essex | W.A.Green | £52

Party like it’s Spring Break all year round with this collaboration between knitwear duo ParisEssex and interiors brand Kitsch Kitchen. The playful lips design is just on the right side of wild, adding a statement feature to your “cushionscape”. Pucker up baby.

blue abstract California cushion

Double Face Cushion by BFGF | A New Tribe | £90

For a true piece of California, snap up one of these cushions by Californian-based art brand BFGF. Inspired by transcendent experience and both tropical and desert landscapes, this design will make for an effortlessly cool piece in your collection.

round space age cushion

Jonathan Adler Globo Round Cushion | Amara | £118

Add a touch of psychedelia to your interior with this Globo cushion from Jonathan Adler. The colourful circle pattern features a touch of metallic sheen – ideal for adding some interest to a more laidback aesthetic.

retro floral cushion with fringing

Sage & Clare – Alico Fringe Cushion | Peachy Parrot | £66

With inspiration drawn from flora of the desert, the Alico Fringe Cushion is a nod to the seventies with its earthy colour palette and busy floral pattern. The contrasting taffy fringing makes this one I’m considering purchasing myself.

nude pink and olive green cushion

Botta Woven Block Stripe Cushion* | MADE |£25

Here she is again with those seasonal hues to draw you in. This fully embroidered design from MADE sticks to the colour scheme of the season – green and pink – but with a muted approach. Yet another piece to layer up your sofa with.

desert oasis garden cushion

Garden Palm Tree Reversible Cushion* | John Lewis & Partners | £12

Okay, so I know this desert oasis is more Marrakech than downtown California, but I can’t help but feel it will still add some beach chic to your outdoor area. Featuring palm tree motifs on the reverse, the cushion is shower-resistant and ready to report for sunbathing duties.
