Whether you’re moving from one rental to another, buying your first home, or stepping up the property ladder, you’re always going to have new furniture on the mind. You see, every home is different and sometimes you have to say goodbye to some pieces to make room for those that are a better fit. Today I want to introduce you to a new furniture and homeware line that’s got everything handled for all of the above – introducing the John Lewis ANYDAY range.
As someone that’s recently moved into my first owned home, having rented for the last 13 years of my life, I’m a master in moving furniture between spaces of all different sizes. I’ve always stood by my ethos of investing in furniture that lasts and will move with you, but I’m also an advocate for affordable furniture that won’t break the bank. The John Lewis Anyday range hits the mark for both criteria with both great-value and great-quality pieces across every aspect of the home. Whether you’re looking for a stylish sofa, or colourful garden furniture that doesn’t cost a bomb, there’s something in this collection of over 2,400 pieces for you, and prices start at just £1.50 for essentials.
Not sure where to start? I’ve picked out an edit of my top ten furniture items that are perfect for rental decor, small spaces and filling up your first home. There’s also a smaller decor edit for those fancying a wee interior update. Let me know what you think! Which Item from the ANYDAY range will be coming home with you?
1. The Sofa
What’s more perfect than a pink sofa? Nothing if you ask me. Sofas are probably one of the biggest investments when it comes to decking out an unfurnished home, so often it is easier to go for something simple and well-priced to get started. The Sweep sofa is exactly that with its clean lines and compact, slim frame. Coming in at under £500, it’s ideal for small space living and comes in other colours too.
2. The TV Stand
It’s fairly apparent that I’m a fan of a statement TV stand and this number features a ridge feature on the doors that ticks all the fluted furniture trend boxes. Made from MDF and natural bamboo, there’s both internal and external shelving meaning you can style away to your heart’s content while also hiding anything slightly more unsightly. It’s another bargain at £199 – race you to the shopping cart!
You know that chair in the bedroom that you always end up throwing your clothes on? Well, here’s a number that you won’t want to hide. This simple slipper chair comes in a range of colours but it’s the orange that’s stolen my heart. Pop it in your bedroom, office or living space for laidback living with a luxurious touch.
Berber-style rugs have been a highstreet favourite for a number of years, but I’ve always found John Lewis rugs to be of much higher quality than the rest. If you’re still working out your interior design style or just fancy embracing a little bit of Moroccan style in your abode, this true design classic is a wonderful staple piece, priced at only £150.
Seating is often an issue in smaller spaces and rented homes, so space-saving solutions are often the way to go. These ANYDAY natural rattan and cane seats are ideal for entertaining or working and will fold away when not in use. You could even make a feature of them by hanging them on the wall. Want to talk quality? These babies are made in Italy, by a family-run manufacturer that specialises in quality woodwork.
Speaking of rattan, this beautiful side table is another versatile piece for either your living room or bedroom. It’s made predominantly from high-quality ash wood in a stained finish, with a second shelf made from rattan. The best thing about these more natural pieces is that you can add your personality in other ways. I’d style it with lots of little trinkets and greenery for a fresh look.
One of the things that I love about the ANYDAY range is that it still taps into some of the more trend-led items in terms of materials and shapes. This orange cord dining chair is a perfect example, bringing together a retro vibe with a modern streamlined shape. The corduroy velvet offers a tactile finish (one that makes me wish I didn’t already have dining chairs) and, once again, comes in at the affordable price of £199 for a set of two.
8. The Sofa Bed
I’ve always found sofa beds a hard nut to crack, with most options not really fitting in with my design style, or looking deeply uncomfortable. The Clapton sofa bed looks promising thanks to the fact that the back folds down as opposed to the seat folding out – in my experience those always make for a more restful snooze. Plus, it looks sleek and mid-century in its own right, especially in the velvet mustard colourway.
Large mirrors can also be a pain to source when you’re hunting for affordable options, so this contemporary design plugs the gap nicely. Available in black, grey and this beautiful mustard hue, it’s well suited to hallways and bathrooms for reflecting light and checking yourself out. And yes, it’s a mere £60!
As someone that’s just got their first ever garden, I know the hunt for inexpensive garden furniture oh too well. This little bistro set, in a choice of on-trend colours. Is a good hero product for your patio or balcony. You could even take them elsewhere thanks to the ability to fold. Catch me with mine at the beach!
As well as large furniture items, the John Lewis ANYDAY range also features smaller decor items such as cushions, tableware, kitchen and bathroom essentials and bed linen. Here are some of the home-boosting basics I think you should be snapping up.
