The EJP Edit | October 2017

My oh my, I can’t quite believe it’s October already. It feels like this year has sped past and I’m not even quite sure that I ever got out of my all black attire and into my summer gear at all – say what?!

Now, October’s actually a pretty exciting one for me, with JJP’s 30th Birthday meaning a six day Berlin bonanza and the Amara awards also coming up soon after. Yes, I made the shortlist and it’s all thanks to you lovely lot. Honestly, it means the world. I’ve also got a brand new desk coming so keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming office tour.

Anyway, let’s get cracking with the task at hand. Introducing The October Edit.

The Destination

Peter Pilotto Townhouse

While I absolutely wish this was a permanent destination, I’m afraid you’ve only got until Friday 13th October to get your colour fix in the Peter Pilotto townhouse takeover. As one of my absolute London Design Festival highlights I advise you not to miss out.

The collaborative installation within an entire Victorian house at 3 Cromwell Place is a colour blocking paradise with lilacs, mustard yellow and lime greens all taking centre stage. Peter Pilotto clothing hangs on the ground and second floor with the rest of the house decked out with paintings, sculptures and hard and soft furnishings by Francis Upritchard, Martino Gamper, Max Lamb, Bethan Laura Wood, Peter McDonald Jochen Holz and Schmid McDonagh.

The installation showcases the creatives’ dynamic collaboration together, and the collective appreciation they have for each others work – WHAT A NICE MESSAGE!

The Exhibitions & Events

Print Club London x Blisters

Print Club’s long-awaited Blisters show is BACK after 3 years away and it’s set to be bigger and better. I should know, I’ve seen a preview and just the ten I’ve seen are bloody brilliant.

Tasked with a brief of creating a print to match a story, 50 artists have drawn inspiration from their favourite book, quote or author to produce a limited edition screenprint. Each print is an edition of 50 and sold at a mere £50. Yup, there’s a theme of 50 going on here. And guess what? You’re all invited to the opening. RSVP here.

Friday 27th October, 6-10pm
MC Motors, 28 Millers Avenue, Dalston, London, E8 2DS

Three of the UK’s leading art start-ups have joined forces to unveil an interactive showcase which will see Church Street in Central London transformed into a hub of creativity and exploration to coincide with Frieze. The week-long celebration of art features 18 carefully selected artists chosen by MTArt, Subject
Matter and Predella House, presenting the very best in the contemporary field. Did someone say Lakwena windows? Well yes, I did, and they will be there.

Interestingly, the space will be mobile-free zone, so visitors can experience the art first-hand, not just through Instagram. Other highlights include early morning yoga sessions and a whole day devoted to digital detox. Check the website for more details on other events.

3rd – 8th October 2017
Church Street, London, NW8

Broadgate London’s Design Mini Market

Looking for a spot of early Christmas shopping? Over the next couple of days Finsbury Avenue Square will become home to a pop-up mini market. Part of Broadgate London’s Shaped By Design season, the Design Mini Market curated by colourful creative Bethan Laura Wood, will host stalls from East London’s up-and-coming designers and artists in rather lovely looking huts. I’m a little gutted I’m out of the country so let me know how it goes if you make it!

4th-7th October 2017
Finsbury Avenue Square, Broadgate London

The Wishlist: Mad Men Interiors

Oh my, have I been watching too much Mad Men or what? The terracotta walls, the optical illusion wallpaper, the velvet sofas at every turn. I’m well and truly hooked and clearly not just because of Don Drapers face. Here’s what I’m after:

1 // Orange Optic Wallpaper | Feathr | £99 / 10m roll
2 // Zig Zag Cushion | Eley Kishimoto x Kirkby Design | £95
3 // Sculptural Lightbulb | Tala | £120
4 // Orange Velvet Armchair | | £549
5 // Blue Velvet footstool | Normann Copenhagen | £358

The Link Love

♥ Are you fed up of London Design Festival yet? Well, I hope not, because Sarah Akwisombe has rounded up her 12 favourite things and I gotta say that I have to agree with most.

♥ Dezeen shared an update on the next basketball court to be taken over by artists and Helen, Natasha and I are ALL visiting.

♥ October means raincoats, right? Thankfully Kate of Fabric of my Life has got us covered on the mac front.

♥ I’m totally craving a trip to Beirut and this temple-like club by Rabih Geha Architects has got me searching for new dancing shoes.

♥ Self-promotion alert: I was featured on Elle Decoration and I’d love you to check out my thoughts of colour within the home!

The Star Buy

These Pom-Pom shoes from Studio B fashion. I’m afraid that they’re all sold out in this rocking red but you can grab a pair of black babes right now!
