Let’s get this straight. I’m definitely not going to be doing any beauty tutorials anytime soon and to be frank, I don’t have much clue about the ins and outs of the cosmetics world. However, as a “normal” girl – I’ll use the term normal quite loosely – I do have some products that I swear by.
Recently I’ve acquired some bits that have firmly fallen into the “can’t live without” category and with some darn good sunlight over the past few days, I couldn’t resist an impromptu shoot. Especially with packaging this good. If you’ve seen my latest Instagram post, you’ll know that I’m bringing back the creativity and the things I enjoy most. I felt like writing a post on beauty, so a beauty post you are getting. How about it? Here are the latest additions to my bathroom – what are yours looking like?
Scherzo Eau de Perfum // Miller Harris London
Miller Harris is a perfumer with heritage and staying true to just that, Scherzo is one of a pair of fragrances, inspired by a passage of text in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘Tender is the Night’. As a colour lover the description of the scent has me at hello- “an intensely vibrant scent, full of colour and a rush of sweetness, Scherzo captures a multitude of blooms: dark red roses, sunny yellow narcissus and crisp white pittosporum. The sweetness of tangerine is offset by the intoxicating purple richness of davana, which adds a twist of liquor to the scent. A base of golden olibanum shimmers with oudh, earthy patchouli and a sprinkling of sugar to capture the feeling of a confectioner’s window.” Basically, it smells all kind of good. Not to mention that packaging. SWOON.

Haloscope // Glossier
If there’s one thing that I do buy into in the beauty world, it’s highlighter. I love that glowy look and have forever been on the hunt for one that gives off an “au naturel” shine. The golden alien look is never a good look, right? Enter Haloscope by cult-favourite Glossier. It’s a dual-delivery formula: the outer halo is infused with genuine crystal extracts for all-day enlightenment, with a solid oil core of vitamin-rich moisturizers for a hydrated, dewy finish. Believe me, I feel like I’ve stepped straight outta a good sleep when I whack it on in the mornings and that’s even without all the sunshine. CANNOT WAIT TO TAKE THIS ON ME HOLIDAYS.

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil // The Ordinary
As soon as I spotted The Ordinary doing the rounds on Instagram, I knew that they were a brand I was going to love. Affordable, well-designed and boasting some serious results, the range is super varied and I’d recommend popping into a store to find out what is right for you. Having visited Marrakech last year, I knew that Argan Oil was great for both skin and hair so this was something I instantly dropped into my basket. The formulation uses 100% pure Moroccan Argan Seed Oil extracted through a cold pressing that preserves the integrity of the oil’s fatty acids, vitamins, phenols (including caffeic acid) and carotenes. Yes, would you just look at all the beauty garb. I use it after a shower and I gotta say, it leaves my upper half looking luminous. All hail the Argan Oil!

Back to Life Hydration Serum // Pai
While I claim to be no beauty expert, I have in fact been writing a fair few articles on Winter skincare for some other folk. One of the things that research has referred to most is dehydrated skin. Pai’s hydration serum is the answer to all your dehydration woes. A blend of three indigenous Australian berries, rich in antioxidants, the serum helps support the skin’s natural moisture barrier and protects against moisture loss. Ladies, that microbiome is your absolute best friend. Don’t treat it bad. I’ve only been using it for a few days and already the results are clear to see with a tighter and fresher face to wake up to in the morning.

Cloud Paint // Glossier
Yet another appearance from the perfectly-packed Glossier. This time in the form of their ‘Cloud Paint’ – a pillowy, gel-cream formula which is seamless, sheer, and buildable. Inspired by gradient pink NYC sunsets, the shades are optimized to work across a wide range of skin tones for a healthy, flushed-from-within glow. I love this reference and so far ‘Puff’ has been my daily BFF, for a light coverage that gives just a pinch of a healthy glow. Warning: it’s easy to squeeze out too much so use minimally.
