The Trend | Moroccan Dreamin’

Emma-Jane-Palin-Trends-Moroccan-Dreaming

The Moroccan Kitchen in Elle Decoration, words by my pal Eliza Honey.

After flicking through the latest copy of Elle Decoration, I fell in love with a kitchen. The Morrocan Kitchen to be exact. One featuring a rug, lampshade and ornate tiles from Finnish shop Zoco Home, if you really want to know.

Layers of texture and pattern fill the room with natural materials and artisanal elements adding a craft feel, one that is modern and slick. While the colour focus of this particular image is mainly white, it still feels warm and extremely homely with the wood finishes and soft furnishings. However, the bright colour magpie in me does still feel like it needs a little more (so that I really want to marry it) and with an area fairly similar in my own house, it got me thinking.

The EJP abode is already somewhat filled with similar items (as a result of our earlier trip to Morocco) again coming through in the tan leather of a Moroccan pouffe and the grey and gold of tea light holders as well as the various black and beige woven pots that sit around our kitchen and bedroom shelves. When you think Morocco, you generally think bright and rich colours – a reminder of the eclectic Souks shimmering with their metallic lanterns, pom-pommed slippers and Berber rugs.

I started my new home journey believing that I would keep things fairly neutral with a pop of colour here and there, and that’s exactly what I’ve done – you can seamlessly integrate colour with natural textures if you know how. Don’t believe me? Why not try adding some of the below pieces to your interior, I’m dreaming about them all. Bold believers go for the monochrome and white worshippers go for the brights – go on, I dare ya!

I love this Moroccan bohemian theme! The patterns are lush and I’m looking to inject some of the items within my livingroom.
